What you do behind closed doors is your business. Now whatever anyone's personal opinion on hackintosh, that's fine. Second, Apple does not permit the installation of macOS on non Apple hardware, which is the only use for using Clover it is a violation of the EULA and copyright. First off all, installing Clover on 'real' Mac will likely result in a non bootable machine, requiring a complete reformat of the drive. It is for use with 'hackintosh' machines, non Apple hardware that is rigged to boot macOS. I don't see it more an issue than if installing a ZFS filesystem on your drive, even though Apple wouldn't want you to do so. )īut after all, provided you put a disclaimer for the non savvy, why not put it here? It's related to MacOS, it's not piracy, it doesn't modify the OS. I was indeed surprised to find it here for 2 reasons: one is because of course it's meant in the first place for the hackintosh scene - but again, some people might find it interesting to have a different bootloader to boot Windows or Linux on their Mac (I haven't tried it myself.) - and two because I think the people who need it already know what to do with it and where to find it. On the other hand, I agree with Mcr about the need for a disclaimer, just in case some kamikaze would try and install it on a real Mac without knowing what they're doing! :-D I don't think this is the place for a debate about wether or not it's legit to use Clover on real Macs (some people do) or hackintoshes, but what Clover does it does it well.
